Elizabeth Mateer

(she,her,them)

When coming into a session with me, you can expect to be met with warmth and nonjudgment and acceptance.  I take an integrative approach to counseling with an emphasis on looking at the individual from a holistic point of view.

Rather than concentrating on dysfunction, I strive to help people fulfill their potential and maximize their well-being.  The therapeutic relationship I create with my clients is the most important part of this process, I collaborate with my clients throughout to find the most effective evidence-based treatments and create a personalized experience towards what wellness means for you.

My areas of special training and expertise include gender and sexuality, identity formation, relationship issues, and stigma.  Specifically, working with those belonging to stigmatized groups, sex workers, artists, survivors of trauma, abuse, sex trafficking, and those in recovery from alcohol and drugs.

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness and LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services from New York University and I hold a Master of Science in Psychological Science from Seattle Pacific University where I am currently working towards my PhD in Clinical Psychology.  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington.

When I’m not seeing clients or working on my PhD, I’m usually hiking in one of the beautiful Washington mountain ranges. If you’d like to learn more, check out my recent interview with Zencare.
